Five years ago, I found myself in a state of crisis. But first, let me backtrack.
I have been married to the love of my life, Steve, since 2009, but together since 2007. Steve and I found each other later in life; both previously divorcees; and it was instant connection when we met. We found ourselves on the fast track program, because both of us knew, 'we had found our person'. I inherited two beautiful daughters, and we have a son together born in 2008 (~14 at the time of this post)
But back to the beginning.
Steve and I were busy living life, as married couples do, but in 2018, Steve went for some preventative testing due to a family history of heart disease. It was then, we suddenly found ourselves facing open heart surgery.
I know these surgeries are performed daily, but when it is 'your person', your world comes to a crashing halt. The thought of your person's heart completely stopped and outside of their body during surgery, instantly creates a flood of worry of the 'what ifs'.
Thankfully, Steve's surgery was successful, but post-op, we suddenly found ourselves in crisis.
Steve suffered major complications and after returning to ICU, I remember praying at his bedside, that if he pulled through, I would create a life of all the things I wanted to do, instead of letting fear hold me back. When you're faced head on with mortality, you suddenly realize that life is too short; to hold back on your dreams.
When Steve began to recover, I booked a trip to Greece for our 10 year vow renewal, remodelled the kitchen, resigned from my full-time job to pursue my life long dream of being an entrepreneur. And, I never looked back.
I have learned so much about myself during these past 3 years. It hasn't always been easy, and yes, there have been times I have had fear, but I conquer those thoughts in my head by looking forward; and putting in the work.
Most people think I make pretty products and take pretty photos, but the truth is, my core competency is branding & marketing. I graduated from Lakehead University, back in 1994 with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing, Branding & Human Resources. So the truth is, I am finally being able to use my education for my own business, and I love it.
While I continue to experience growth in Say it with Stacey, since post covid restrictions, my hustle has been with my other business, Stacey Tarrant, Brand Strategist & Visual Storyteller.
I love helping others grow their businesses through effective brand strategy (and I just happen to be a great photographer too, lol) And when I am not fulfilling customer orders, I am also busy meeting families and their dogs taking portraits.
